Showtime Anytime iPad app

I downloaded this app today to give it a whirl. The UI is clean, simple and does the job well. Now if only we could have similar apps in Australia!

Umami Companion App

Looks like the Companion App space is heating up. Startup Umami is launching today with a companion service for Nat Geo.  It does a similar audio syncing service as IntoNow, and integrates all sorts of social TV and companion info for a show.

Yahoo’s IntoNow

I didn’t even realise Yahoo acquired this, but apparently this launched on Tuesday.

Companion apps are the next big thing – and automated syncing is going to be key.  IntoNow uses a Shazam like audio syncing to determine what you’re watching. We just had a play with this in the office and it’s pretty amazing
